Artnet Auction: Beginnings, 15-21 December

Artnet’s first NFT auction centered around the historical trajectory of early computer art, media art, video art and digital art over the past six decades—and its touch points with the development of NFTs. The sale spanned from early pioneers and the inventors of the NFTs, to the generation of digital artists that have fully embraced NFTs in their practice today. Including works by Georg Nees, Herbert W. Franke, Espen Kluge, Osinachi, Justin Aversano, Pindar van Arman, FEWOCIOUS, and Kevin Abosch, Artnet's inaugural auction brought together a tightly curated selection of rare examples from within this burgeoning scene.

Exclusive Solo Show by Manolo

A long-awaited solo exhibition opened by one and only generative artist Manolo Gamboa Naon (aka Manoloide) opens soon at KVG on 11th November 2021.

'88 Allegories' generative masterpiece by Manoloide, a group of 88 individual artworks, collectively engaged together building up one main canvas. Each image holds its meaningful message with flower, color, number, and shape.

Installation of Math Goes Art, Zürich, 17th September

The exhibition at Gerber & Stauffer Fine Arts in Zurich, curated by Digital Art advisor Georg Bak, traces the evolution of Herbert W. Franke’s ground-breaking oeuvre from its analog beginnings in the 1950s to today’s NFTs and presents digital homages to Franke by Reeps100 and the digital art collective CryptoWiener. Several important works in the show were kindly contributed by Kate Vass Gallery, Zurich.

Math goes Art: Solo Show by Herbert W. Franke - July 21st, 2021 - 31st October 2021

The exhibition focuses on three main bodies of works within Herbert W. Franke's concept of Math Art where the artist has been exploring and researching the visual side of mathematics: Drakula(1970s), Cellular Automata (1990s), Lissajous (1998).

VivaTech is Europe’s biggest startup and tech event. One of the many topics addressed will be the ways in which technology has impacted the creation, curation, and diffusion of entertainment in the 21st century. In collaboration with Beaux Arts & Cie there will be an immersive art room in which KVG will be part of presenting our CADAF program ft. both physical and NFTs works from Sofia Crespo, Entangled Others Studio, Cryptopunks, and Kevin Abosch.

This conference is the fourth in a series, starting with the Tokyo Blockchain Game Conference, which was held for the first time in Japan in 2018. Although we have been working to promote NFT (Non-Fungible Token) and develop a healthy industry from the early stage, as the market has rapidly expanded from 2021, discussions about the future of NFT have suddenly begun.

Kate Vass spoke at the Blockchain Life 2021, which was the main industry event of the year to take place in offline format. For 5 years the forum has been gathering more than 4000 participants in planet's blockchain capitals (Singapore, Moscow) and reconfirming its status as one of the most important events in the world.

Telephone Paintings, Exhibition Opening, Montreal, 29th March

Kate Vass Galerie and Anteism Books presented a group exhibition “Telephone paintings” on display at Anteism Books, Montréal, Canada. 

Featuring artists: Cornelia Sollfrank, Sofia Crespo, Manolo Gamboa, Naon, Tom White, Desmond Paul Henry, David Young, David Jhave Johnson

The show exhibition with curatorial statement was presented virtually at the NY Artbook Fair, as well as within the Elektra Montreal Showcase of Digital Creation, March 29 to April 1. Also was open for private tours of the installation, to the Montreal Institute of Learning Algorithms.

Blockchain Online Conference by DC Finance, 3rd March

Priyanka Desai, Derek Edward Schloss, Kate Vass & Kevin ABOSCH were focusing on the following topic:

How are NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens) remaking the marketplaces and creating new business opportunities? What are these digital assets and why are they responsible for the current growing trend of dynamic changes in collectibles? What is behind the thesis that they are/will play an important role in new business models for artists, sports clubs, and players as well as real estate and the capital markets? These are just examples of the possibilities of NFTs. On January 24th, 2021 a crypto cyber punk sold for $740,000. What is going on and what can we expect?

Global Blockchain Congress, Dubai, 9th February

Kate Vass gave a key note speech at the 6th Edition of the Global Blockchain Congress on February 9th, 2021, in Dubai, organized by AgoraGroup. She presented Swiss fintech project SWIC Digital enabling all people to invest via its blockchain-based investment platform. The SWIC Gateway offers a direct exchange of assets between investors and financial providers via Smart Contracts.
This was an exclusive, closed-door, congress between investors and hand-picked Blockchain projects looking to raise funds.
