DROP of CHANGE OF BASIS by Kjetil Golid at K011

Repeat a structural pattern in two dimensions, then create a diagonal cross-section in the third dimension, and you are left with something like an evolving pattern-gradient. ‘Change of Basis’ picks up the thread from Kjetil’s earlier partitioning algorithms and extends them into the third dimension, generating subdivided cubes. By cross-sectioning this cube in specific ways, the simple initial patterns come alive, creating cathedral-like structures and a sense of massive scale. While highly geometric and rule-based, the expression of the pieces are softened up by bright colors and playful linework. Inspiration is taken from Moebius’ Sci-fi illustrations as well as Pushwagner’s striking perspective.

New series of 8 unique works as 1/1 NFT’s + Fine Art Print. The colored pieces begin Change of Basis A1, A2, A3, A4 and the monochromatic being Change of Basis B1, B2, B3 and B4. A2 physical signed fine art print was at the display at ‘Node to Node’ Art Salon Paris from 13-22nd October as a preview.

DROP OF POST HUMAN CINEMA AT K011

The PHC artist collective (Mark Amerika, Will Luers, and Chad Mossholder), in human-AI symbiosis, is happy to exhibit their first collaborative art project, Posthuman Cinema, a collection of ten cinépoèmes that playfully experiment with AI as a form of otherworldly alien intelligence. In Posthuman Cinema, language and diffusion models come to life, vis-à-vis original text and image prompts that are designed to situate the works in the history of avant-garde and auteur-driven cinema art. All of the works are intentionally composed as moody black and white films that are reminiscent of the filmmakers that have most influenced the PHC artists including Agnes Varda, Michelangelo Antonioni, Ingmar Bergman, Chantal Ackerman, Maya Deren and Andy Warhol. All ten of the works come with an original soundtrack by BAFTA-nominated sound artist Chad Mossholder as well as an AI-created voiceover reading from a script generated by Amerika's customized large language model.

DROP OF CLONISM BY Alice Gordon at K011

A different kind of science fiction by Alice Gordon ‘Clonism’ explores cloning as a common, everyday reality, a banality that is both near and distant. It diverges from the typical, grim, metallic clones by adopting a pastel pop aesthetic and offering a new visual language. This collection redefines perceptions of cloning in popular culture and science, distinguishing it from traditional representations. Both unsettling and absurd at the same time, the collection symbolizes the banality and redundancy of advanced technology. The pieces represent clones as mere products of consumer society rather than scientific marvels, seamlessly integrating into the mundane. It critiques consumer society and the trivialization of individuality through mass production, reflecting on a world where everything, even humanity, is commodified and disposable. The use of soft pastels contrasts against the eerie sterility of cloning technology, revealing an absurdity in existence. The color palette and the deadpan stillness highlight the non-functionality of the clones, evoking an artificiality. It's as if we've become so adept at creating life that we've forgotten to imbue it with meaning.

Node to Node collection by Jared S. Tarbell at K011

Jared S. Tarbell is a generative artist, developer and programmer who's worked with code for over 30 years. Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Tarbell's encounter with personal computers in 1987 sparked a lifelong passion. Fascinated by the system-like intricacies of the world, he visualizes abstract truths by observing multiple outputs and refining his algorithms. His works bridge to mathematical beauty and abstract exploration, intertwining a subtle sense of spirituality with computational precision.

In his news series, exhibited at Art Salon Paris from 13-21st October 2023, Jared intertwines mathematics, generative code, and geometric aesthetics presenting it in six sets: Flower Composition, Circle Inversion, Node to Node, Infinite Regeneration, Mystic Rose & Node Garden Moment of Clarity. Within his art, there exists a palpable sense of spirituality harmoniously intertwined with the precision of computing logic. His work is presented as six sets of 5 unique images each, grouped together as an ensemble reflecting the base algorithm.

Drop of 'She was machine-hearted' by Ivona Tau at K011

'She was machine-hearted' is a curated selection, born from Ivona Tau's previous long-form project 'Machine-hearted’. While originating from the realm of 'Machine-hearted’, these 12 works take on a fresh and profoundly feminine dimension. They evoke contemplation about the silent suffering experienced by women, encompassing the myriad emotions they bury deep within due to the stigma associated with issues like endometriosis, PCOS, infertility, and postpartum depression. Society often imposes the expectation that women must conceal these emotions, leading to a silent fracture of their inner selves as they strive to embody qualities of independence, success, and confidence. The curated pieces serve as a means of giving voice to these suppressed emotions, offering a literal interpretation driven by artificial intelligence. They shed light on the intricate emotional states marked by feelings of brokenness, shattering, and being torn apart. In doing so, 'She was a machine-hearted' becomes a poignant exploration of the hidden and often unspoken struggles that women face, providing a platform for the expression of these complex and deeply personal experiences.

drop of les Parisiens by Alkan Avcioğlu at K011

In the heart of Paris, there lived a family like no other, les Parisiens. These AI-generated photorealistic artworks employ the enigmatic aesthetics of Surrealism to present a captivating portrayal of a family's multifaceted existence. A concoction of paradoxes, as the canvas unfolds as a collage of disparate scenes, showcasing the diverse spectrum of emotions, experiences, and dynamics within the family unit. The artwork navigates the raw and unfiltered aspects of familial life. The garden picnic scenes, bathed in Surrealism's soft, dreamlike hues, depict idyllic moments of togetherness. Yet, lurking beneath the serene surface, some artworks delve into the shadowy realm of the human psyche. With a disturbingly violent and chaotic style, the hidden aspects of family affairs unravel. These darker vignettes pierce the viewer's consciousness with stark and unsettling imagery, depicting the intricate web of conflicts, secrets, and suppressed emotions that often characterize family life.

“FREAK SHOWS” EXHIBITION OPENING, UNPAIRED. GALLERY, 5TH OF APRIL

There is a long history of “Freak Shows” also referred to as “Odditoriums” which dates back to medieval times, where people considered physically unusual were put on display like caged animals. Exhibiting those with deformities—extreme diseases and conditions—as objects of interest and entrainment is barbaric and sadistic (especially by today’s standards), but had been routine for hundreds (and hundreds) of years.

The same could be said for those of us that think in an atypical, nonconformist manner. We are dismissed as “special”—signifying a degree of mental malformation—and menacing in an increasingly homogenous, conservative society; which is, in fact, scarier than all of the nutters I know combined. Consider this a clarion call to fight the fear, let your guard down, and, as Missy Elliot sang, Get Ur Freak On!

The exhibition takes place at Unpaired. Gallery in Zug on 5 April. The artworks will be available as NFTs on KVG's new digital extension, K011.

Participating artists: Ganbrood, Robert McNally, Phosphor, Olga Fedorova, Nude Robot, Memo Akten, Kenny Schachter, Iñigo Bilbao, Formless, Erika Weitz, David Henry Nobody Jr., Daichi Mori, Viola Rama

NFT FACTORY PARIS, 2ND - 25TH MARCH

Exhibition of the first drop of NFT Factory in Paris Opening Thursday March 2, 2023

The exhibition aims to show that artificial intelligence will not replace artists. The AI technology really intervenes in the creation process, from the writing of the prompt to the selection and post-production of the work generated by the software. Let's see artificial intelligence as a brush for the XXIst century that does not promise a uniformity of creation.

AI-GENERATED ART: A PANEL DISCUSSION, OCEANSIDE MUSEUM OF ART, 22ND OF MARCH

A flood of generative AI (artificial intelligence) tools are transforming how we create words and images. Art and design—and other fields—are in upheaval due to apps like MidJourney, Dall-E, and others. Anyone with any level of experience or talent can now create high-quality images in seconds from a text prompt. Organized by independent curator Vallo Riberto, this panel will explore the questions - What is this technology, and what is it not? Is it really art? How does it impact careers, culture, aesthetics, ethics, and the law? How do we adapt?

Join us for a panel discussion with digital art professionals:

  • Memo Akten,

  • PhD, Stephen Burns
