LAURA RAUTJOKI
Laura Rautjoki is a visual artist and photographer who has been active in this field since 2010. She is currently studying in the Master's program in Photography at the Turku Academy of Fine Arts in Finland. Laura investigates the representation of Finnish women in photographic history from the 1960s to recent years. Recently, she has embraced AI technology to create alternative views that challenge traditional portrayals of femininity, often depicted from a male perspective in early photographic works. Laura uses AI not only to capture the essence of her subjects but also to convey the atmospheres and environments, particularly the melancholic Finnish ambience that is evident in her pictures.

Laura Rautjoki's works combine her experience as a photographic artist with the possibilities offered by AI in depicting women. Inspired by Brassaï’s intimate and realistic photographs, which present women without idealization, these AI-generated pieces similarly highlight the diversity and beauty of womanhood as it is – bold and unapologetic. Brassaï’s iconic Madame Bijou has been a key source of inspiration, reflected in the artworks that explore women’s roles and identities from new perspectives, challenging traditional dynamics of power and gaze.
