IL SENSO ESTETICO DELL’INTELLIGENZA ARTIFICIALE | ESPOARTE CONTEMPORARY ART MAGAZINE
by Ennio Bianco

CHRISTIE’S ART+TECH SUMMIT: THE A.I. REVOLUTION
NEW YORK | 25 JUNE 2019
This June, the 2019 Art+Tech Summit: The A.I. Revolution, held in conjunction with Christie’s Education and presented by Hyundai, will explore the ways in which artificial intelligence is making its impact in the art world, as well as addressing its potential implications for the future. Convening top tech minds and innovators from Google, M.I.T. Technology Review, the New Museum and more, the Summit will offer a comprehensive programme of lectures, talks and panel discussions on a topic transforming the global landscape.
This year’s accompanying exhibition includes the New York premiere of a moving-image artwork Yugen, by filmmaker and artist Martha Fiennes, featuring the actor Salma Hayek Pinault and made possible with generous support by Gucci.
World-renowned conceptual artist Kevin Abosch will be one of the spakers and he will show the new 'Line Work: NYC'.
'With “Line Work: NYC,” Kevin Abosch challenges the nature of identity while considering mobility within a densely populated city. With a handheld mobile device, and the aid of more than 100 remote cameras and other sensors in public spaces across New York City, Abosch collects terabytes of photographic and other data.
A series of algorithms are presented with the data to be “emotionally distilled” but ultimately only serve to modulate the rate at which the artist’s computer generates a segment of a perpetually-growing horizontal line. As there is nothing visually in the line itself to suggest uniqueness, Abosch connects the temporal with the sacred while confusing the boundaries between artist, subject and computer.'

OSCAR HEINKE

The Automat und Mensch exhibition is, above all, an opportunity to put important work by generative artists spanning the last 70 years into context by showing it in a single location. By juxtaposing important works like the 1956/’57 oscillograms by Herbert W. Franke (age 91) with the 2018 AI Generated Nude Portrait #1 by contemporary artist Robbie Barrat (age 19), we can see the full history and spectrum of generative art as has never been shown before.

FRÖSCHE, KATZEN UND ANDERE DIGITALE KOSTBARKEITEN
REVOLUTIONIERT BLOCKCHAIN DEN DIGITALEN KUNSTHANDEL?
von Alex Kälin
WAS UNTERSCHEIDET EIN GIF VON EINEM ÖLGEMÄLDE? AUF DEN ERSTEN BLICK SO EINIGES. AUF DER ANDEREN SEITE SIND BEIDES VISUELLE AUSDRUCKSFORMEN, DIE SICH FÜR UMSETZUNGEN MIT DEM PRÄDIKAT «KUNST» EIGNEN. DOCH DIE MÖGLICHKEIT DIGITALE KUNST SO EINFACH KOPIEREN ZU KÖNNEN, DISQUALIFIZIERT DIESE DAVON ALS UNIKATE ODER AUFLAGEN GEHANDELT ZU WERDEN. NACH EINIGEN BIEREN UND EINER EWIGEN DISKUSSION KAM DIE IDEE: KÖNNTE MAN NICHT GENAU DAFÜR DIE OMINÖSE BLOCKCHAIN VERWENDEN? DIE IDEE WAR GUT, NUR WAREN WIR NICHT DIE ERSTEN, DIE SIE HATTEN. DIE WELT DES NOCH JUNGEN BLOCKCHAIN-KUNSTHANDELS TAT SICH MIR AUF UND WECKTE MEIN INTERESSE. SO SEHR, DASS ICH GELD FÜR EINEN DIGITALEN FROSCH AUSGEGEBEN HABE. BREAKERMAG | HOW CRYPTOPUNKS CREATORS CHARMED THE ART WORLD AND PAVED THE WAY FOR BLOCKCHAIN ART
"App developer John Watkinson had never signed a piece of art before. He certainly hadn’t signed one that would grace the walls of a gallery in Zurich, Switzerland—a country he’d never visited—alongside a piece by the famous Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei. Until recently, he’d never introduced himself as an “artist.”
“I’m nervous about signing these,” Watkinson said one day in October in his shared office space on Brooklyn’s Gowanus Canal, bent over a printed image of a CryptoPunk—a simple, pixelated image of a man with a beard, mohawk, and sunset-colored glasses. “I’m one of those computer guys who never learned to handwrite anything.”
Watkinson practiced his signature a couple times before marking the 12 CryptoPunk prints that would appear in the “Perfect & Priceless: Value Systems on the Blockchain” exhibition in November at the Kate Vass Galerie in Zurich. He’d been invited to exhibit his work there by Georg Bak, a Swiss curator and digital art expert, while appearing at a blockchain conference at Christie’s, the famous auction house, in London—another thing the computer programmer never expected to do..."

MME | CRYPTO MEETS ART
CRYPTO ART TALK IN THE CONTEXT OF THE FIRST BLOCKCHAIN ART EXHIBITION IN SWITZERLAND
For the first time in Switzerland, Kate Vass Galerie in Zurich is presenting a comprehensive and unique exhibition on blockchain art, showcasing the most important protagonists of this movement.
Georg Bak, Curator and Digital Art Expert, and Mónika Molnár, MME Tax Expert, have asked themselves whether art is measurable, whether the beauty of art is measurable in digits or tokens and what crypto art is all about.
This conversation will continue in an open discussion about the contemporary developments of art in a decentralized world. The interaction of man and technology and their effects on art and taxes.

PERFECT & PRICELESS ON KUNSTBULLETIN 12/2018
{ PERFECT & PRICELESS }
