ZANCAN

Michaël Zancan, hailing from the South of France, has worked as both an oil painter and a creative programmer since the early ‘90s. Deeply enchanted by the richness of dense foliage and trees, he blends figurative and generative art forms.

Zancan's objective is to harness mathematical equations to craft patterns reminiscent of nature's complexity, suitable for pen plotter interpretations, resulting in an emphasis on vector lines. This evolution and consistent practice birthed a distinctive style characterized by linear strokes, occasionally complemented by translucent, filled forms. Rather than conforming to the stereotypical "algorithmic" appearance, his creations exude a painterly flair, masterfully balancing both intensity and harmony.

Post-Garden Pop Drama, 2023

"Post-Garden Pop Drama" takes up the composition and narrative logic of "The Gateway," while reconstructing it in light of recent personal or historical developments. As the "bear market" continues to cast a negative atmosphere, as armed conflicts persist and raise concerns, and as climate crises intensify, it appears more challenging to find the path towards a harmonious ideal, a peaceful, joyful, creative, and shared utopia. Nevertheless, Zancan continues to employ digital art as an escape, a source of hope, a space for connections and freedoms. A realm of joy and colors. Despite its intensity, this universe liberates us somewhat from the gravity of the world.
